FOCUS ON: No Wave

No Wave music came out of New York City in the years 1976 - 1980. Often when I hear the term "post-modernist" it conjures thoughts of something contrived and soulless, but No Wave is as contrived as a group of cavemen standing in a circle pounding rocks together, and retains the primitive fury you would expect from cavemen pounding rocks, too. No Wave is perhaps the ultimate post-modern expression. I think of it as the "end" of music, in that everything else is the middle and No Wave is the end. After the No Wave era was finished, the artists all left the end and joined the middle. Some of them stayed out on the edge, while others came right to the center. In this 2 hour program, we FOCUS ON No Wave and the music No Wave musicians have made since the No Wave era.
